PAINTING WORKS

Dawn could be Alice in Wonderland. Because her creations transport you to an atmospheric, almost dreamlike world. A world intensely transcendental and surrealistic, but with a deep interiority and an intense desire to dive into the absolute and unseen. It is of the human soul. The mixture of different materials and techniques succeeds in rendering a surface pulsating with the contrasts of light and dark relief, where you can feel the flavours and emotions that each colour emanates.

The shades of blue leave behind them the salty sea and swirls of emotions, the feverish yellows and velvety oranges the thick taste of the south and the melancholic intensity of the search. The transition from outer space to inner hinterland struggling with conflicting emotions is often enclosed in double frames. In this way, each creation lends itself to a double reading. Do we choose to enter the bright interior or exit into the enigmatic darkness? Are we moving with steady stride into the uncertain unknown or are we eager to encounter hope? On the other hand, the inner search is strengthened by the symbolic use of certain objects, such as the egg, which he uses for the first time in two works, emphasizing the sense of new life and rebirth.
It is impressive that in these pulsating sets that Dawn sets up, with the anthropomorphic tree branches, the solid and steep rocks, the austere interiors with the strong mood of geometric symmetry, the tiny human figures "steal" the show. Female figures, naked, speaking only with the posture of their bodies, encapsulate primordial roles and mellow emotions.

These petite but so realistic and tense figures are dominant as they perch on the edge of the cliff, ready to sink into the abyss or emerge into the bright light. Full of expectation they gaze, feel, rest lazily at the root of a tree, soak up the light in which they are bathed, wait wrapped in a thick silence, or head steadily towards the Dream. Dawn's creations strip away the dust of our daily lives, and urge us to delve into the innermost recesses of the soul, into complex paths we often refuse to traverse, trapped in fears and guilt.
It is a free dive into oceans of emotions, into aspects of our human nature that we carefully choose to remain unconscious.
